CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Earlier this month, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit hosted a K-9 First Aid class sponsored by ANNA4PAWS. This nonprofit organization provides canine-specific first-aid kits to working canine teams in the community.
“This class focused on the pre-hospital care of injured canines. Similar to humans, K-9s have a ‘golden hour’ for treatment, which is critical for improving their chances of survival following a traumatic incident,” a press release stated.
Five local agencies, including the CPSO, Shreveport Police Department, DeSoto Sheriff’s Office, Springhill Police Department, and Gretna Police Department, participated in the class.
“We want to extend our gratitude to Arian Thompson, the founder of ANNA4PAWS, Dr. T from the Valor Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Bossier City, LA, and the University Animal Hospital in Shreveport for their invaluable assistance during the class,” the release stated.
