AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – It all started with some encouragement from her friends, and now, Jasmine Bailey is using her love for baking as a business to share her delicious desserts with the CSRA.
Bailey sits down with WJBF to discuss how Jazzy Made It!
Welcome to Celebrating Black Excellence. How did you get started with baking?
I’ve actually loved baking my whole life. Basically as a little kid, I baked cookies from a little box or from the pack. When I started making things homemade, it kind of just flourished from there. The kitchen is my happy spot, and I love just baking and making something sweet. I have a strong, sweet tooth, so I like to make all the things that are sweet.
What made you decide to turn this love for baking into a business?
My friends mainly put me on it because when they would try my stuff, they were like, “Jasmine, this is different.” They would say that my stuff was kind of set apart from other people’s. I got a lot of praises. My cookies were always soft. My brownies were nice and sweet. The pudding… people said, “You got to share this with everyone.” So, then I turned into their business.
What exactly is included on your menu?
I have cookies, brownies, cupcakes, of course, the pudding. That’s definitely my top seller. I have the cookies and cream pudding, banana pudding, lemon pancake pudding, and a strawberry cheesecake pudding. Those are definitely my top favorites to make and to share with everyone. I also do muffins. I’ve done. I pretty much do everything except cakes. I don’t trust my cake decorating skills enough to try to venture into that just yet… but don’t count me out.
What’s next for you? What are your goals as far as your business? Where do you see yourself in the future?
I would like to eventually have a storefront somewhere in the area. That would probably be my biggest goal. At the moment, my next goal is really just to share with more of the CSRA and just get more people talking about Jazzy Made It.
If people want to get some of your delicious treats, how can they do so? How can they contact you?
So, you can definitely reach out to me on Facebook: Jasmine Bailey or my business page Jazzy Made It. You can absolutely give me a call. My number is (803) 474-4308.
