DEI law heads to NC Governor’s desk

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The North Carolina House has voted in favor of a controversial bill that addresses DEI.

The state Senate had already approved the measure. It now heads to Governor Stein’s desk after Thursday morning’s House vote.

The House vote was 61-47.

The bill bans diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in any state agency and also bars any state money from going toward those practices. State employees who violate the law could face losing their jobs. State employees and agencies could also face a fine of up to $10,000 for violations.
