Crash disrupts south Abilene traffic light

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – If you drive around South 14th Street, you may have noticed the signal lights at the South Clack Street intersection are not working correctly. TxDOT states that this is due to a crash that occurred last week.

The traffic light at the intersection of South 14th Street and South Clack Street was damaged on June 16 due to a car crash. There was significant damage to the signal cabinet (the component that controls the signal), the pedestrian pole, the electrical service, and signal cables.

A Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) spokesperson stated that the City of Abilene and AEP are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Depending on the availability of materials and weather, TxDOT hopes to have its portion of the work completed within the next 10-15 days, although the holiday may impact the timeline.
