LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas deer hunters can now register for the 2025–2026 Urban Archery Deer Hunts set to open this fall.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission announced hunters must register and qualify before the Sept. 1 start date.
Officials said all hunters must complete the International Bowhunters Education Program, attend a hunt-specific orientation, and pass an archery proficiency test using their own equipment.
Participants are required to donate their first adult deer to Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry, a nonprofit program that distributes meat to families in need.
Ralph Meeker, deer program coordinator for the AGFC, said urban archery is one of the most effective tools available to cities and wildlife managers to maintain safe deer numbers.
