Victim of fatal stabbing in Ogden identified as mother of suspect

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — The 48-year-old woman killed in a stabbing incident in Ogden on June 19 has been identified as Jennifer Martinez.

The suspect in the murder, 25-year-old Alec Conrad Martinez, is the victim’s son. He was arrested and booked into the Weber County Correctional Facility on June 19 on charges of aggravated murder (a first-degree felony) and disarming a police officer (a third-degree felony).

According to the Ogden City Police Department, around 1 p.m. on June 19, officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Washington Boulevard following a call from a woman reporting “an active physical altercation taking place.”

As previously reported from the probable cause statement, on the call, Jennifer Martinez could be heard screaming “He has a knife!” and repeatedly yelling “Alec!”

When officers arrived on the scene, Alec Martinez reportedly confronted them in the street with a bloody knife, and he was detained. Officers found Jennifer Martinez with “critical injuries consistent with a knife assault.” They began life-saving efforts, but she died in the hospital.
