ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Hayden Saunders, 21, after he was hospitalized for self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
On June 24, around 3 p.m., officers responded to Swedish American Hospital for reports of a shooting victim in treatment. He was treated for his injuries and taken into custody soon after.
During the investigation, authorities found a bullet hole in the floor of the apartment that Saunders lived in. The bullet went through two floors, according to court records.
Officials found a handgun on the living room couch of the apartment.
Saunders admitted to police that he had three other firearms in the apartment that were not his. Officers found another handgun with defaced serial numbers during the search.
He is charged with three counts of possession of a firearm without a FOID, two counts of possession of a weapon while being a felon, reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a firearm with defaced serial numbers.
