CLARENDON, Va. (DC News Now) — A man was extradited to Arlington from Spain for a shooting he was involved in two years ago, police said.

The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) said the shooting happened on June 4, 2023, at around 2 a.m. in a parking lot in the 3000 block of Wilson Blvd. There, they found a man who had been shot.

The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Taha Zouheir, 36, was identified as the suspect, but it was determined that he had fled the country after the shooting.

ACPD worked with federal authorities, and Zouheir was taken into custody in Spain earlier this year.

He was extradited to the U.S. in June and is being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility.

Zouheir is being charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding and attempted first-degree murder.
