SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A former contestant on the TV show ‘Love Island’ is facing new charges of domestic violence after being initially charged last month.
Cashel Barnett, 34, was charged Tuesday with three new charges ranging from assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
According to court documents, a woman reported that in December of 2024, she and Barnett were in an argument after she mentioned that he ought to “get a job.” Barnett allegedly then got violent by restricting her breathing and causing her to lose consciousness. The woman then claims he “sat her up [and] slapped her across the face really hard.”
Documents say the assault ended after the woman picked up a crying child.
The TV personality was also charged with similar charges in May 2025, when a woman came forward alleging Barnett had picked her up by the neck, preventing her from breathing. Police say the two incidents involve the same victim.
Barnett is now named in two felony cases and was ordered to be held without bail following the original charges on Monday, May 12.
Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
