Lions at Abilene Zoo moving to new home

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Abilene Zoo is preparing to say goodbye to the African Lions as they head to a new home next week.

Kenya and Dixie, the zoo’s African lions, are preparing to go to another AZA-accredited zoo as part of the Lion Species Survival Plan (SSP).

Siblings Kenya and Dixie arrived in Abilene in 2023 from the ABQ BioPark Zoo in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They will be on their way to their next adventure after June 29th.
