SNYDER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – People in Snyder won’t have to travel to Lubbock or Abilene anymore to see a movie. A beloved movie theater is getting a second chance.
The Owner Operator of Cinema Snyder, Jay Beaver, purchased the closed movie theater and plans to bring it back to life.
Beaver, who previously worked at the local movie theater before it closed, recalls driving to Lubbock to watch films because it was his only option. Now, he hopes that the reopening of Cinema Snyder will provide the community with a convenient place to enjoy movies without having to travel such a long distance.
“I thoroughly enjoy movies, so this is a fantastic experience for me to run this movie theater. It feels like something out of a dream… It feels like something that’s not real,” Beaver said.
An official reopening date has not been announced, but renovations are already underway. Upgrades include a new popcorn machine, repaired flooring, a redesigned counter, a new ticket booth, and a relocated entrance through the theater’s big double doors.
