HADDONFIELD, N.J. (WPHL) — A school in South Jersey getting a complete makeover is one of many projects now in the works in Camden County.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday at Elizabeth Haddon Elementary School for not only its renovation, but also other projects for the Haddonfield School District. An all-purpose room, interior renovations for the new kindergarten program, and ADA accessibility upgrades to the Haddonfield Memorial High School Auditorium are among the projects.
“Haddonfield is pretty built out, but it doesn’t have a lot of community gathering points,” said Haddonfield Mayor Dave Siedell. “With the refresh of the auditoriums, we will allow, again, the community to come together in a large space.”
Siedell added that the projects will enhance academics in the borough, and Haddonfield School District Superintendent Chuck Klaus said on Monday that the groundbreaking represents a new chapter for students.
