Columbus recognized in top-20 list for best-run cities by Wallethub

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Columbus was recently named as one of the top-20 best run cities in America, according to Wallethub.

A study in 2024 that was conducted by Wallethub, a national financial and data analysis platform, revealed Columbus was ranked at No. 20 out of 148 cities that are considered the most populated for its “effective use of taxpayer dollars and strong service delivery.”

Wallethub says the city achieved one of the best “cost-to-quality ratios in the country and delivered impactful service” across the boards when it comes to public, safety, education and economic development.

Columbus was praised for also maintaining fiscal management as the rank underlines its commitment to “transparent governance, accountability, and continuous improvement,” according to Wallethub.

The city also scored high in infrastructure and pollution, pointing to its investments on roads, facilities and sustainable practices.

Other key cities that were recognized in the list were Nampa, Idaho, Boise, Idaho, Durham, North Carolina, Tallahassee, Florida, and Lexington, Kentucky.
