GRANBURY (KDAF) — For more than nine decades, Camp Fire Camp El Tesoro has been a cornerstone of childhood adventure in North Texas, offering life-changing camp experiences.
Camp Fire Camp El Tesoro provides a safe, enriching environment where kids from kindergarten through 12th grade can explore nature, build confidence, and form meaningful friendships.
Whether it’s overnight summer camp for grades 1–12—filled with canoeing, fishing, hiking, and arts and crafts—or day camp for incoming kindergarteners discovering the great outdoors for the first time, each program is tailored to spark curiosity and independence.
One of the camp’s most profound offerings is its grief camp, a supportive and therapeutic space for children navigating loss. Here, campers use nature and community as healing tools, proving that camp can be a place of both joy and emotional growth.
Camp El Tesoro doesn’t slow down once summer ends, either. During the school year, the grounds come alive with outdoor programs, field trips, and more, continuing its mission to help kids connect with nature, with each other, and with themselves.
Safety is a top priority. Summer staff undergo two full weeks of hands-on training in youth development, first aid, CPR, and emergency drills. Camp El Tesoro is also proudly accredited by the American Camp Association and works closely with local health departments to maintain high standards.
From discovering new activities to learning life skills in the cabins, this camp is a getaway where leaders are born, lifelong memories are made, and every camper leaves more confident than they came.
