Belvidere man killed in pickup vs. semi crash near Woodstock

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (WTVO) — A 50-year-old man from Belvidere was killed in a crash near Woodstock on Tuesday.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash happened around 5:52 a.m. in the 16500 block of Kiswaukee Valley Road.

Police said the victim was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram eastbound on Kishwaukee Valley Road when he crossed the center line and was hit by a Mack truck semi, headed west.

The Belvidere man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been publicly released.

The driver of the semi was uninjured, police said.

The crash is still under investigation, and no charges were announced.

The McHenry County Sheriff said in the span of 12 hours, there were three fatal crashes in the county. A 35-year-old man from Harvard was killed in a single-vehicle crash at 6:56 a.m. Tuesday.

An 11-year-old child was killed the night before, on Monday, around 6:41 p.m. in a crash near Marengo. A 29-year-old man from Wonder Lake was injured in the 2-vehicle crash.
