American Airlines flight to Charlotte makes emergency landing in Vegas after engine smoke scare

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An American Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport Wednesday morning after smoke was seen coming from one of the plane’s engines.

Flight 1665 had just taken off from the airport when the smoke was noticed. The plane, en route to Charlotte, North Carolina, was carrying 165 passengers.

Annette Riding captured video of the plane from her backyard. Black smoke can be seen coming from the left engine.

Luke Nimmo, a public information officer with the airport, said the plane landed safely and taxied to the terminal under its own power. No injuries were reported.

There is no information on what may have caused the smoke. This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
