
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Two men were indicted this month following a joint investigation that was conducted by the Columbus Police Department’s Special Operation Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The two men are facing charges for allegedly trafficking drugs among the Columbus Area, according to Columbus PD.
The police department says the two agencies conducted, “Operation D.I.R.E.C.T. Pressure” during the summer and fall of 2024, which focused on halting the distribution of fentanyl in the Columbus area.
The two men who have been identified in the indictment were Reginald Kimbrough and Kelvin Traylor. The pair were taken into custody by officers and agents as a result of the investigation, according to Columbus PD.
Columbus PD pointed to Kimbrough was the leader of the operation and moved “large amount of fentanyl” into the area.
The men were indicted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
Kimbrough was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the police department.
