(FOX40.COM) — Every year, Americans observe a day to commemorate the founding of the United States flag design, but this year, protests are planned throughout the nation for what is now being called “No Kings Day,” instead of “Flag Day” on June 14. President Trump’s birthday also falls on the same day.

The protests are against the Trump administration’s policies and what some people perceive as authoritarianism. They are scheduled to coincide with a $45 million military parade in Washington, D.C. that celebrates the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary.
The parade is expected to include more than 7,000 uniformed soldiers, several tanks, military vehicles, a fireworks show, and more. Since President Trump’s 79th birthday is the same day, some people speculate that the parade is also a celebration for him.
“In America, we don’t do kings,” the nonprofit organization No Kings said on its website. “They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services. The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.”
During a press conference on Thursday, Trump was asked for a response to “No Kings Day.” He said he did not feel like royalty.
“I don’t feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get stuff approved,” Trump said. “The King would have never had to the California mandate. He wouldn’t have to call up Mike Johnson and say, ‘fellas, you have got to pull this off. And after years, we get it done. No, no, we’re not a king.”
Trump was referring to the pushback he has received amid several executive orders, illegal immigration crackdowns, military deployment to de-escalate anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles, and three resolutions signed to overturn California’s mandate to ban the sale of new gas-powered vehicles and require all electric vehicles by 2035.
