Undocumented man accused in Auburn box cutter attack jailed without bond

AUBURN, Ala. — (WRBL) – Police say the man responsible for a violent attack with a box cutter at an Auburn apartment complex that left two people hospitalized has been extradited to Alabama and is being held without bond.

According to Auburn Police, the assault happened June 13, 2025, at a residential complex in the 400 block of Opelika Road. Officers arrived to find two victims suffering from serious injuries allegedly caused by a box cutter. Both were transported to a local hospital and are stable.

Police say the suspect, Tenia Guardian Romulo, allegedly fled the scene and crossed into Georgia. He was located shortly afterward by deputies with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Romulo has since been extradited to Alabama and is now being held at the Lee County Detention Facility with no bond. Police confirm he is undocumented and currently under an ICE detainer.

He is charged with two counts of Assault in the First Degree.

Investigators say the attack appears to be an isolated incident and all individuals involved were acquainted.
