CHICAGO (WGN) — If you found yourself at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport Sunday and thought, “seems really busy today,” it was not your imagination.
The Transportation Security Administration released a statement Tuesday that said Sunday, June 22 broke the record for most people screened on a single day at O’Hare.
The stat was reflected around the country as TSA reports the day was also the busiest day nationwide.
“Officers screened nearly 3.1 million individuals,” the statement said.
It’s just two weeks before the busy Fourth of July travel week. TSA projects the highest passenger volume – approximately 2.9 million – is expected on Sunday, July 6.
O’Hare’s second busiest day ever was Thursday, June 19, 2025, when more than 111,000 individuals were screened, TSA said.
