
(FOX40.COM) — The Michelin Guide is set to reveal which California restaurants have earned one of its coveted stars at a ceremony later this week.
Earlier this year, the renowned publication annoucned 13 restaurants that will be added to its 2025 edition but did not disclose what level of recommendation each had recieved.
Chefs will learn what award they have received at a ceremony on Wednesday at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center in Sacramento.
The long-running guide is most famous for its star rating system, but it gives out other awards, such as its “Bib Gourmand” award, which is given to restaurants with “simpler” cooking styles that provide good value for their price.
The new additions to the guide include:
Bay Area
- Sungho
- Ethel’s Fancy
- Eylan
Los Angeles Area
- Komal
- Somni
- Vin Folk
Sacramento Area
- Kin Thai
- Majka
- Pho Momma
San Diego Area
- Atelier Manna
- Lilo
- Tanner’s Prime Burgers
- 24 Suns
The Golden State currently has more than 80 Michelin-starred restaurants, including six that have earned a 3-star rating. Around the state, 169 restaurants have recieved the “Bib Gourmand” distinction and another 369 have standard recommendations from the guide.
The Michelin Guide was started in 1900 by the Michelin tire company as a way to encourage motorists to drive more.
