State leaders express mixed views on President Trump’s bombing of Iran

(FOX40.COM) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom has issued a statement on social media on Saturday night regarding the recent announcement made by President Donald J. Trump.

Newsom stated on social media that California is not facing any specific threats from the attack.

“Following the President’s action in Iran, California’s State Threat Assessment Center is actively monitoring for any potential impacts in California,” Newsom said. “While there are no specific or credible counter threats we are aware of at this time, we urge everyone to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.”

This comes after President Trump stated the following on a social media app called Truth.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Sacramento Councilwoman Mai Vang took to social media and said the following on Facebook:

“No one wins in war, we all lose. Another world is possible,” and followed the post with a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“The chain reaction of evil — wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.”  – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

California Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher took to X and said the following:

“Today Iran found out.”

California 22nd Congressional District Representative David Valado said the following on X:

“A nuclear Iran threatens the entire world, and as the largest state-sponsor of terror, they must be stopped. The USA must stand strong, defend our allies in the region, and do what’s necessary to protect American lives and global security.”

Republican Congressman Vince Fong stated the following on X:

“President Trump’s decisive action to eliminate the nuclear capabilities posed by the Iranian regime was a necessary one to prevent a real and catastrophic threat. Iran can NEVER be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. We’re grateful for the bravery of the USA Air Force and all our military personnel. May God protect them and all Americans in harm’s way as we continue the necessary work to preserve peace and stability.”

California Democratic Assemblymember Issac G. Bryan said the following on X:

“In War, the people always lose.”

United States Representative Democratic Mike Thompson released the following statement to FOX40 on Saturday night:

“It is Congress’ Constitutional responsibility to debate and approve any use of military force. This is why I called on Speaker Johnson last week to reconvene the U.S. House of Representatives, and I am calling on him once again to call us back into session now. Members must be briefed immediately on the evolving situation in the Middle East so we can fulfill our Constitutional responsibilities.”
