Rockford gang member sentenced to 6+ years in prison on drug dealing, weapons charges

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford gang member has been sentenced to over 6 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearm charges.

Jovino Ramirez, 35, was arrested in May 2024 during a traffic stop.

Authorities said he was in possession of 19.1 grams of cocaine and 1.9 grams of methamphetamine, which he tried to conceal during the encounter with police.

A loaded handgun was also found beneath the driver’s seat of the car.

He pleaded guilty to charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine and methamphetamine, and possession fo a loaded firearm.

On Monday, he was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Iain Jonson in the Northern District Court to 78 months in federal prison.
