FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WOWK) – One person has died after a fire in Floyd County.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the fatality. The FCSO said the fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. Monday at a home on Railroad Station Road in Hueysville.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the scene because they believed someone was inside the home when the fire broke out. The sheriff’s office said the man who lived in the home was pronounced dead by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson.
The FCSO identified the victim as Marvin Howard, 75, of Hueysville. The sheriff’s department said the investigation into the fire is ongoing, but no foul play is suspected.
According to the Garrett Area Volunteer Fire Department, multiple units responded for mutual aid, including the Maytown, Left Beaver, David, Allen, and Middle Creek volunteer fire departments, the Floyd County Rescue Squad and Life Guard Ambulance, as well as the FCSO and Floyd County Coroner’s Office.
