PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — One of the drivers involved in a serious two-vehicle crash in Prince William County over the weekend has died. The other driver was seriously injured, but expected to be OK, police said.
On June 21, around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Dumfries Road and Snowfall Drive in Manassas to investigate a crash.
Upon investigation, it appeared the driver of a 2018 Ford Mustang, later identified as 22-year-old Gean Alvarez, of Quantico, was heading north, on the wrong side of the road, when he struck a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx head-on, police said.
Both vehicles spun counterclockwise, resulting in the Mustang stopping in the median and the Malibu halting in the roadway. The drivers were extricated from their vehicles and transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
On June 22, investigators were informed that Alvarez had died. The driver of the Malibu, a 51-year-old woman, received treatment and is expected to recover.
Police are still seeking additional information in the investigation. Anyone with information can contact Prince William County police.
