WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – A motorcycle club helped escort an Ohio Marine home after he was killed in a DUI crash.
Warthogs Motorcycle Club met with the Valley Harley-Davidson at The Highlands on Tuesday to travel down to Morgantown to help escort 29-year-old Staff Sergeant Christopher D. Harding, Jr. home to St. Clairsville, Ohio.
The Motorcycle Club left at noon from The Highlands, meeting at Tim Hortons in Morgantown after 1 to bring Harding, Jr. back to the Ohio Valley. They took Harding, Jr. through Route 9 in St. Clairsville, Ohio to Toothman’s Funeral Home.
Staff Sergeant Christopher D. Harding, Jr., 29, was killed in a motorcycle crash on June 19. He was serving on active duty with the United States Marine Corps at the time of his death.
The crash that claimed his life occurred when a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck his motorcycle head-on.
The driver, identified by police as 56-year-old Bradford G. Jordan of North Chesterfield, was arrested on charges of DUI and DUI Maiming, with additional charges pending.
As Harding’s family prepared for his burial, they called on the Wheeling and St. Clairsville communities to show their pride and gratitude — not just for him, but for all who serve.
