PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The man accused of firing multiple shots at three Milwaukie police officers on Friday was indicted Tuesday on several felony charges.
Looney John Franklin Toon, 42, faces a total of 17 charges, including four counts of attempted assault with a firearm, criminal mischief and attempting to elude a police officer. He is being held in the Clackamas County Jail.
Just before 3 a.m. on Friday, Milwaukie police said one of their officers on patrol stopped a vehicle in the 11000 Block of Southeast Oak Street, finding both the driver and a female passenger inside.
Officials say Toon “fired a gun at three Milwaukie police officers pursuing him as he fled from the traffic stop. (Toon) abandoned his car near Southeast Tacoma Street and Southeast 26th Avenue and ran onto the Eastmoreland Golf Course, where a search for him was unsuccessful.”
Toon was arrested by US Marshals and SWAT officers in Sandy on Monday after a three-day search.
