NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It’s been a tradition for New Orleans readers since 1963.
The “Clarion Herald” has been printing the news for the Archdiocese of New Orleans for more than half a century.
Now, as WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood says it’s time for the final edition which will be Saturday, June 28.
With 64 pages, it may be the biggest ever for the Clarion Herald.
“The Clarion Herald stood head and shoulders over most Catholic publications in being able to be essentially local while at the same time universal,” said Business Manager Mark Lombard.
After the final paper, the Archdiocese has a plan for a new publication.
It will again be a twice a month paper in partnership with a national Catholic publishing company.
Folks can pick it up at churches starting July 12.
Breaking news will be delivered online and via email newsletter.
The new paper will continue with news and features.
And, yes, it will also be the “Clarion Herald.”
