Kansas City, Missouri man drowns at Wilson Lake; body recovered hours later

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Authorities say a Kansas City, Missouri man drowned at Wilson Lake on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 12:11 p.m., 911 received a call of a possible drowning at Lucas Swim Beach.

Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded. Following an extensive search of the area, a body was located beneath the water using sonar technology. Divers were deployed, and at around 2:31 p.m., the body of 43-year-old Lee Andrew Williams was recovered from the lake.

The Russell County Sheriff says no further information on the drowning will be released.
