MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 33-year-old China Grove man has been charged after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run early Sunday morning, according to the Monroe Police Department.
Just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, officers responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of W. Roosevelt Blvd. and Morgan Mill Road. When they arrived, they found a woman, 59-year-old Carolina Sanchez-Villa, unconscious and not breathing.
Despite life-saving measures, she died from her injuries, officials said.
On Monday, June 23, officers arrested 33-year-old Russell McCall Jr. in Rowan County.
Arrest records show he was booked in the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office under a $50,000 secured bond for felony hit and run causing serious injury or death and driving with a revoked license.
