Charlotte-area faces Heat Advisories with temps nearing 100 degrees

CHARLOTTE (PINPOINT WEATHER) — The heat is getting dangerous Tuesday as highs will approach the triple digits and Heat Advisories take place from Uptown into our I-40 corridor.

Winds will be light on Tuesday as sunshine dominates from this morning into this evening.

Temperatures start in the 70s with dew points in the low 70s, which makes it feel muggy and humid already. We’ll heat up quickly with 90s taking hold late Tuesday morning and upper 90s likely throughout the afternoon.

We’ll peak near 100 degrees on Tuesday as winds stay light out of the northeast between one and five miles per hour. With the dangerous heat and heat advisories present, make sure you take lots of breaks in the AC and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Be sure to check those back seats if running errands on Tuesday, and now is the time where you’d want to check on any elderly friends or family members.

Overnight lows will bottom out in the upper 70s Tuesday night, with another hot day on tap for Wednesday. Highs rebound back into the upper 90s on Wednesday with storms likely developing in the afternoon.

We’ll have a slight risk for severe weather on Wednesday, which is a level two out of five. The main threats from the storms will be large hail and damaging winds. The storms will likely taper off heading into Thursday.

Relatively cooler temperatures will settle in, but the heat will keep on coming both Thursday and Friday. We’ll see partly cloudy skies and spotty storm chances through the end of the week.
