(KRON) — The Benicia Police Department has recovered more than $26,000 worth of alcohol stolen from a local business.
A former employee allegedly stole more than $300,000 worth of high-priced alcohol from the store during a three-month period. The Benicia Police Department was alerted to the missing merchandise in March.
“Through the review of surveillance videos, our Detectives were able to confirm the suspicions regarding the theft,” BPD said.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on June 3. BPD initially recovered $22,000 worth of wine and spirits for the business. Last week, investigators found and returned another $26,000 of alcohol to the store.
“Our detectives continue to follow up on additional leads and last week were able to recover additional product for the business owner, totaling over $26,000 in value,” BPD said.
