BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Season 37 for the Krewe of Gemini officially kicked off with the reveal of this year’s theme at the Gemini Den in Bossier City.
“The Greatest Show” is a tribute to iconic festivals and cultural celebrations from around the world. Each float will be designed to honor a unique event, bringing international flair to the parade.
Some float themes will include Oktoberfest, St Patrick’s Day, Day of the Dead, and the Running of the Bulls.
The Captain of Gemini 37, Cole Guthrie, said, “What we wanted to do for the Gemini 37 was basically celebrate all of the world’s festivals and events around the world and so we’re calling it the greatest show and so we’re celebrating everything from The Running the Bulls to Oktoberfest to the Renaissance festivals to all the different things that are around the world, will be celebrated through our floats and through our ball this year.”
The upcoming schedule for Gemini XXXVII includes Coronation on July 19, the annual Golf Tournament on October 10, the Grand Bal on January 31, the float loading party on February 13, and the parade on February 14. All events will incorporate “The Greatest Show” theme.
The Krewe of Gemini is the first parading Mardi Gras krewe in North Louisiana, and they work hard to keep the excitement up. Guthrie said, “You know, we were expecting about 200 and we had 270 show up tonight, so just the energy in the room and everybody getting excited over this year.”
