By rssfeeds-admin BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—Summer can be difficult for financially struggling families. Students who receive free or reduced lunch can be left hungry when school is not in session.
No Kid Hungry offers packaged, seven-day shelf-stable meal boxes to area families with children 18 years of age and younger. Louisiana director Rhonda Jackson and Bossier Parish School Board Child Nutrition Supervisor Karla Horton will meet with the community to discuss the program.
Horton feels that the program is important, saying, “Feeding children during the summer is a challenge for many families who depend on school meals. Last year was a huge success, and we are proud to be able to offer the summer meal box program again at no charge to ensure that children are properly nourished and fueled throughout the summer.”
The Bossier Parish School Board free summer meal box distribution is June 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Parkway High School.
