AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (WTVO) — Antonio Filosa stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer of Stellantis on Monday, taking over from Carlos Tavares, who stepped down last year.
“It is my great privilege to take the lead of Stellantis, a global company with deep regional roots,” said Filosa. “We have unique strengths in our great people, our iconic brands and our millions of customers, whose loyalty to our company, its fantastic products and its unique stories can only inspire us to new achievements.”
Tavares announced his departure amidst struggling sales and a battle with the United Auto Workers.
Filosa said he looks forward to leading Stellantis back to being “one of the winners in this next era for our industry.”
Stellantis has confirmed that the Belvidere Assembly Plant will reopen in 2017, but a promised battery plant and MOPAR Mega Hub parts distribution complex will not be part of the plan.
