CHICAGO – Sixty artists from across America gathered at the base of 875 North Michigan Avenue, colloquially known as the John Hancock Building, for the Magnificent Mile Art Festival.
It was the longtime dream of festival producer and director Amy Amdur.
“This event is only in its second year but it’s an idea that’s been in my head for a long time,” Amdur said. “I’ve always loved Michigan Avenue, it holds a real special place in my heart. It’s a magical street so as my company produces art festivals, I thought what better way to marry these two loves of mine.”
Sculptures, paintings, jewelry and functional art were on full display for public viewing at the festival.
Neighbors stopped by and were enticed to return to explore what else the Magnificent Mile has to offer.
“In my home, everything has a story and everything has a memory of a trip, of a place, so if I buy today it’ll be from Chicago,” visitor Janet Oppenheimer said.
