INDIANAPOLIS — President Donald Trump announced Saturday night that the U.S. had executed airstrikes at three Iranian nuclear sites.
In a post on social media, Trump confirmed the U.S. bombed the Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan sites. The aircraft that executed the attacks are now outside Iranian airspace, and their pilots are heading home, according to Trump.
“Congratulations to our great American Warriors,” Trump said via social media. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
The airstrikes come as tensions between Israel and Iran escalate. On June 16, Trump indicated that he left the G7 early because of the situation developing in the Middle East.
After Trump announced U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, Indiana’s politicians took to social media to weigh in on the president’s actions:
“Thank you to our brave service members who executed this mission. The world will be safer if Iran’s nuclear capability is destroyed. I look forward to briefings in the coming days.”
“Peace through strength means you have to be willing to prove your strength when adversaries will not accept the peaceful option.
“I support President Trump’s decision and am thankful the strikes were successful. God Bless America!”
“The right call by POTUS.”
“I trust President Trump!”
Pence has not directly weighed in Saturday’s U.S. airstrikes. Pence did, however, post an article on X before the airstrikes happened.
That story contained Pence’s commentary that urged Trump to “Finish the job” and “destroy Iran nuclear threat quickly.”
Trump is expected to deliver remarks on Saturday’s airstrikes around 10 p.m. More information on his press conference is available here.
