LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) –Semi-professional basketball will soon be back in the Hub City.
The Lafayette Ballers of the American Basketball Association held a tryout for their 2025 return on Saturday. Athletes ages 18 to 30 put their skills on display for the Ballers’ staff at Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy. ABA Players will have the opportunity to be scouted for the G-League and can later be drafted to the NBA. Head Coach John Francis was pleased with what he saw at the tryout.
“I feel like we had a good turnout. Everybody came with a good energy, enthusiasm, and everybody had a great attitude. I just love what I saw today, and I feel like we have a great opportunity, and we have a great group, and I feel we could do a lot more.” Francis said.
Francis said that Acadiana is in for much more in the near future as the team finalizes a roster for the upcoming ABA season.
“There’s a lot more to come. So I just hope that everybody could come out and see the Lafayette ballers because believe me, they don’t want to miss out. I believe that we will be a great group.” Francis added.
Their 20-game season starts in November. The Lafayette Ballers will tip off their first home game against the Gulf Coast Gladiators on October 25th, 2025.
