Deputies wrote in a news release that just after 4 a.m. on Sunday, someone called 911 saying they had been forced off the road by people in another vehicle before being shot at.

The victims ran into an adjacent field for cover, and a deputy came to the scene and took them to safety, per the sheriff’s office.

Law enforcement found a vehicle matching the description the caller gave in the area of Sparta Pike. Deputies said they tried to carry out a felony traffic stop, but the vehicle allegedly led them on a chase before it “became disabled” in the area of KY-47 and KY-465.

Four juveniles were reportedly detained in the vehicle, but two others ran away, the GCSO said. One was found after a short chase, and another is still at large.
