(KRON) — The Dublin Police Department said a proactive jewelry store owner made sure to empty all the display cases before several would-be thieves rammed a car to break into the business and attempt to clean house.
DPD said its officers responded at 1:58 p.m. on Friday for a report of a burglary at BJ Jewelers on the 6600 block of Dublin Boulevard. Police said the suspects fled the location in multiple vehicles but didn’t make off with any stolen property.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that suspects used a white Lexus to back into and breach the store’s security gates,” said Captain Miguel Campos of Dublin police. “After gaining entry, multiple suspects exited several vehicles and entered the business. However, the store owner had proactively removed all merchandise from display cases in advance, leaving the suspects
empty-handed.”
The business was closed at the time of the incident. The white Lexus, which police believe is stolen, was abandoned at the scene.
This remains an active case. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information on the investigation is encouraged to contact Dublin Police Services at (925) 833-6670.
