Suspect in Echo home invasion arrested for domestic battery

ECHO, La. (WNTZ) – A Rapides Parish man was arrested Monday in connection to a May home invasion that allegedly involved a physical altercation, threats, and domestic abuse, authorities said.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence in the Echo community on May 18 in reference to a reported home invasion. The suspect, later identified as Evan Michael Guillory, 29, was not located at the scene. Deputies took the initial report, and Sheriff’s Detectives launched a follow-up investigation.

During the investigation, multiple witnesses stated that Guillory allegedly arrived unannounced at the residence and became involved in a verbal altercation. When denied access, Guillory reportedly forced his way into the home, prompting a physical struggle with one of the victims. The altercation continued outside before Guillory fled the scene, authorities said.

Victims also reported that Guillory allegedly made multiple threats during the incident, including threats directed at other occupants of the home. A child was reportedly present during the encounter.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Guillory on charges of home invasion, interfering with emergency communication, and domestic abuse battery with child present.

With assistance from the Bunkie Police Department, Guillory was arrested on June 16 and extradited to Rapides Parish. He is being held at the Rapides Parish Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.

“The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office remains committed to the safety of our community and will pursue all leads to bring those responsible for violent offenses, especially those involving domestic violence or children, to justice,” said Sheriff Mark Wood.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law or administrative action.
