BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (ABC4) — New information about the human remains found in a trash bag earlier this year has been released by the Brigham City Police Department.

According to a press release shared by police today, an examination by the Medical Examiner has confirmed more information about who this person might have been. They are still investigating this case as a homicide, police say.

The remains are female, and the woman was between 30 to 50 years old at the time of death, according to the examination. Officials believe that she was of European descent and between 60 and 66 (5′ to 5’6″) inches tall.

The clothing the woman was wearing was an “Original Cold Storage” branded hoodie, long-sleeved V-neck shirt, black leggings and black socks. She also had a distinct heart-shaped tattoo on her left bicep, and an artist’s rendition of this has previously been released.

The remains were found on April 2, 2025, just before 2 p.m. by railroad workers. A black plastic bag appearing to contain human remains was reported to police, and law enforcement with the Brigham City Police Department and the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office determined that it was indeed a deceased human.

The Brigham City Police Department says that DNA results from a private testing lab are still pending. Investigators are working to identify the woman and ask that any member of the public with information come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brigham City Police Department at 435-856-7023.
