
CHICAGO (WGN) — A shooting near a nightclub on the city’s Near West Side left two people dead and a third injured early Saturday morning.
According to Chicago police, the incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Roosevelt Road, in Tri-Taylor.
Officers say the victims, two men and a woman, were standing on a sidewalk in the area when a black SUV pulled up and three armed male offenders got out and opened fire in their direction.
The three victims were wounded in the shooting and the gunmen fled the scene in the SUV following the gunfire.
Officers said two of the victims, a 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, suffered fatal injuries in the incident, while the third victim, a 25-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to his ankle and was hospitalized in good condition.
Currently, it is unclear what led up to the shooting and officers say no arrests have been made.
No other injuries were reported and an investigation is now underway.
