BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (June 19, 2025) — Two people were injured in a shooting early Wednesday morning at a residence on Bloomington’s near south side, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 2:10 a.m. to a 911 call reporting gunfire in the 4600 block of South College Drive. Upon arrival, they found a 35-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man in a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were conscious and alert at the scene and were transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
The woman was treated and released a few hours later, while the man remains hospitalized. Authorities said both victims are expected to recover.
Neighbors told investigators they were awakened by the sound of the gun shots and saw at least one person flee the area in a vehicle. The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing and that additional details will be released as they become available.
Officials believe the incident was targeted and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
