Trainer at Chop’s Academy in Grant Parish accused of mistreating retrievers

MONTGOMERY, La. (WNTZ) — A Grant Parish dog trainer is facing three counts of animal cruelty after deputies said he abused retrievers left in his care.

The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office said it began investigating after receiving reports that dogs boarded at Chop’s Retriever Academy were being mistreated. Detectives allege that the business’s owner, Reginald Berry, 55, abused the animals while they were at his training facility in Montgomery.
