ERATH, La. (KLFY)- At Don’s Boat Landing in Erath, families will be hitting the water this weekend to help raise money for St. Jude cancer patients.
Craig Girouard and Gretchen Chauvin with the organizations, Casting for a Cause and Down South Hereos for St. Jude, are teaming up to raise funds for St. Jude.
“A hundred percent of our proceeds go straight to St. Jude,” said Girouard. “St. Jude is an amazing organization that does wonders for our kids, one day we’ll hopefully get it to where no kid is lost because of cancer.”
During the event, the fishing tournament will be held from Thursday to Sunday. In addition, there will also be live music on Friday and Saturday, as well as a live auction, raffle, and award ceremony. Chauvin said the tournament will bring hope and healing to families facing childhood cancer.
“Some parents lose their jobs because they’re in Memphis the whole time with their child,” Chauvin said. “It just gives them an extra support to be able to just pay attention to their child and not worry about everything else.”
Tickets for the fishing tournament have closed, but there are some tickets available for the auction and games. Chauvin urges everyone to come support the cause, as she says every bit of help will make a difference.
“It’s a beautiful weekend, it’s really nice out, the weather is supposed to be good for us all weekend, so we’d love for everybody to come out and have some fun and just enjoy and help us raise money for the kids,” said Chauvin.
