BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Luzerne County – A police chase began in Mahanoy City Wednesday morning, ending in the crossroads of two major interstates in Luzerne County as four people bailed.
According to State Police at Hazleton, Mahanoy City Police attempted to stop a known stolen vehicle around 4am Wednesday morning.
The car had been reported to state troopers as stolen.
The vehicle fled a traffic stop and a pursuit began, ending in a crash at the Interstate 81/80 interchange north of Drums.
Four people bailed from the wreckage and fled into the nearby woodlands. A heavy police presence, including a State Police Special Emergency Response Team swarmed the area according to photos circulating on social media.
An man and a boy were both taken into custody in the woodlands and troopers said they’re still seeking additional suspects.
