Carsforsale.com rebrands, expands one of its key business lines, plans to grow team

June 19, 2025

It’s arguably among the coolest workplaces in Sioux Falls.

From the race car that hovers above the lobby to the T. rex replica in the center of the workstations, Carsforsale.com made a splash when it opened its expanded headquarters at Lake Lorraine in 2018.

There’s a twisted slide that goes from one level to the next, free candy and snacks and an extensive golf simulator that was developed, turned into a business and then sold by company co-founder Sean Coffman.

But even that wasn’t enough to keep people in the office as the pandemic changed how work was done.

“Here we were with a big, beautiful building that was empty,” Coffman said. “We went through COVID and did fully remote, and now we are hybrid this many years later.”

The company’s business has evolved with the times too. The post-pandemic auto market created a shortage where dealers had trouble even sourcing cars to sell.

“Now, it’s more balanced and traditional like you or I would expect,” Coffman said.

The Carsforsale.com of 2025 is a business that still helps sell plenty of vehicles — working with about 20,000 dealers compared with about 15,000 when it moved to the new building.

But it’s also increasingly diversified, recently launching a rebranded and expanded version of its business unit Webit that was founded in 2016 and creates and maintains websites geared toward small businesses.

“The product is a lot more tangible and beneficial to small businesses now,” Coffman said.

The rebranded business line, SiteFlex, is designed for small businesses that benefit from multiple tech tools integrated into one platform.

A flat rate of $79 per month includes website design and development, hosting, unlimited pages and design changes, plus tech support. The product incorporates built-in business tools, including:

  • Personalized CRM with messaging.
  • Product management for online sales.
  • Custom quotes and invoices.
  • Online payment integrations.
  • Social media scheduling.
  • Unlimited users with custom permissions.

The “sweet spot” is a business generally with 10 or fewer employees trying to establish a digital footprint without in-house staff for it, said Kristen Stengel, chief marketing and chief product officer.

“They’re looking for a partner to bring it to life, but it’s super-expensive for them,” she said. “That’s where we come in, and we’re this all-in-one custom solution.”

The customer base is nationwide and covers almost 40 industries, from boutiques and bars to landscapers and pet stores.

“We’re really trying to build our growth strategy around the core region,” Stengel said.

For Justin Meyer, founder of Justin Meyer Construction, SiteFlex became the right fit when he decided to develop his first website after beginning to focus on fiberglass swimming pool construction.

“I never had one, we tried doing one on our own, but then I found out about them, and it just worked well because I don’t know how to do any of that,” Meyer said. “They built it from scratch, and we tweaked it with pictures, and they’re able to add or remove stuff as I need.”

Other estimates were $3,000 to $20,000 for the same work, he said.

“So this just hit the price point, and I thought it was worth a try,” he said. “It’s been very, very good.”

Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe in Sioux Falls hired SiteFlex to update an old website.

“It was outdated, and getting anything done was either me or hiring someone, and it was way too expensive, and I didn’t have the time,” co-owner Adam Wieczorek said. “Most are thousands to do stuff, which is ridiculous, so I was really surprised when I found Webbit (now SiteFlex), especially since it was local. They do everything, and it’s a matter of just asking them.”

While Wieczorek makes some updates to the site on his own, “I can always ask, and customer service is always really good,” he said. “Even the support is local too.”

Internally, the company’s estimated 200 employees have transitioned from remote to hybrid work.

“It was a transition in mentality to get people to understand the importance of coming back to the office and the importance of social connection,” Stengel said.

The policy now allows working from home two or three days a week depending on tenure.

“That’s been a really good balance of people feeling engaged in the company culture and part of something and still having the flexibility to be home when necessary and do work effectively,” she said.

The plan is to begin more hiring, Coffman said.

“We’ve been pretty fulfilled with the talent we have, and now we’re going to be starting to look for more talent,” he said, adding that business will be related to sales and website design with a focus on SiteFlex.

Many employees support multiple business lines, including the core Carsforsale.com and SiteFlex, as well as Powersports.com, a nationwide site selling new and used power sports inventory, which launched in 2021 and includes more than 20,000 powersports listings.

On the product side, Coffman still owns BevBuckle, a product he acquired and manufactures in California. The belt buckle doubles as a beverage holder and is designed to hold standard 12-ounce bottles and cans, freeing up your hands.

“It’s a fun product,” Stengel said. “We do new buckle designs probably every half a year or quarter. We sell online, we sell on Amazon, and most of it is digital. We don’t do a lot of retail sales. Recently, we’ve done more custom orders for corporate events or things where they’re looking at a fun commemoration as much as a branded item, so we’ll design a custom buckle.”

Another of Coffman’s entrepreneurial ventures, Virtual Green, ended up being acquired and has been featured by the Golf Channel and Tomorrow’s Golf League on ESPN. The product can be found in the homes of PGA stars and other celebrity athletes.

But while it’s hard for a serial entrepreneur not to have new ideas brewing, Coffman isn’t acting on them — at least for now.

“We’re trying to stay focused on our core business units because of the growth opportunity,” he said. “It’s fun to maintain an entrepreneurial spirit, but you also want to pick your battles wisely, and we’re only capable of doing so many things. Between Carsforsale and SiteFlex, the growth opportunity is tremendous, and we have a lot of work to do in those business lines.”
