(KRON) — Authorities found and seized a cache of guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition during a multi-agency bust in the North Bay on Wednesday.
Detectives with the Santa Rosa Police Department Narcotics Team, Gang Crimes Team, and the Petaluma Petaluma Police Department found the weapons while serving multiple search warrants at three different locations. One suspect, 59-year-old felon Kelly James Roach of Sonoma, was arrested during the bust.
Authorities arrested Roach during a traffic stop on the 5300 Block of Old Redwood Highway in Petaluma. Authorities searched Roach’s car, where they allegedly found drugs and a handgun.
“Detectives searched the vehicle and located a loaded 1911 Colt .45 in a Crown Royal bag on the floorboard where the suspect was sitting,” Santa Rosa PD said. “Additionally, [approximately] two and a half ounces of suspected methamphetamine was found on the suspect’s seat, concealed under the seat cover.”
Santa Rosa PD detectives proceeded to serve search warrants at two storage units on the 6000 block of Commerce Drive in Rohnert Park, where numerous guns were seized.
“Detectives located a cache of firearms, both handguns and rifles, along with thousands of rounds of various ammunition and firearm parts,” Santa Rosa PD said.
Roach was booked into the Sonoma County jail and faces the following criminal charges:
