CHICAGO — A group of three people were taken into custody on Thursday evening following a theft from a Near North Side business.
Chicago police say the incident began around 7:40 p.m. at a business in the 100 block of East Grand Avenue, in River North.
Officers said they were initially called to the scene following a report that a group of around four male offenders had stolen “high-end property” from a business in the area and fled the scene in a stolen white SUV.
Police did not say what business was hit in the robbery, but the area is home to a shopping mall and several other shops.
A short while later, officers said the group crashed the SUV.
Following the crash, officers said the individuals inside the car attempted to flee, but officers caught up with three of them and took them into custody. Charges against them are currently pending.
No injuries were reported during either incident and an investigation is now underway.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact CPD Area Three Detectives at 312-744-8263 or dial 911.
